The Dark Side of Charismatic Leadership
Some people believe that charismatic leadership can be exercised for iniquity purposes. Some charismatic leaders can be unethical and lead their organisation/society toward illegal and decadent ends. However people are willing to follow the charismatic leader down a quasi-legal trail because of the leader's referent power.

Charisma can lead to terrible thing. Just because being fine at assembling your followers, says nothing about your goals. For instance; Hitler can be seen as an example of the dark side of charisma. Hitler's values are vicious, insane, then the more charismatic the leader gets, the worse off they are.

The specific of the process of what makes a person charismatic is also based on the cultural background. Another example of the dark side of charisma is Osama Bin Laden. Although he is insane and delusional, his charismatic plays a foremost role in his leadership in why he has so many followers.
